The Role
You will have an important support role in our Advanced Thermal Systems team, as we work with our customers to define the future of commercial electric vehicles. You will increase efficiency and reduce costs within our Advanced Thermal Systems operations. The Industrial Engineering Co-op position is located onsite in our Lawrenceburg, TN manufacturing plant supporting our Advanced Thermal Systems business serving Bus, Truck, Specialty Vehicle and Last Mile Delivery.
Industrial Engineering Co-op reports to the Advanced Thermal Systems Manufacturing Engineer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will play an important part of our team, while gaining real-world experience and a comprehensive understanding of several manufacturing processes within a global organization
- Participate in lean manufacturing projects that support process improvement.
- Improve processes to ensure that quality products are delivered at great cost.
- You will use industrial engineering skills to improve factory layout, materials flow, material handling, ergonomics, and station layout.
- Work with your team to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity goals.
- You will have a hands-on approach to data collection, recommendations of opportunities, and implementation.
- Participate in cause analyses, non-conformance investigations and corrective action implementations.
- Help transition products from prototype to production.
· Assigned a dedicated mentor to provide you with valuable feedback to ensure you are reaching your goals
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Students currently enrolled in at least their sophomore year pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- You will work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester and summer.
- Develop fact-based recommendations resulting from in-depth data analysis.
- Communication skills: collaborative team player with a motivated spirit
- Project management skills: finish projects for your team
- Eagerness to operate in a growing environment with an ability to further change.
- Auto CAD knowledge
