People and Culture Manager

Location: Modesto, CA (Supports all Stevens Management Company dealership locations)
Compensation: $120,000 – $156,000 annually (DOE and Certification)
Position Summary
The People and Culture Manager is responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle across Stevens Management Company dealership locations. This is a hands-on role focused on hiring support, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding.
This position serves as the primary human resources partner to dealership leadership and associates, ensuring consistent application of company policies, compliance with California employment law, and a professional, respectful workplace environment. The role emphasizes direct interaction with employees and managers, providing guidance, resolving issues, and supporting a strong organizational culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HR Leadership: Serve as the primary HR contact for all associates and managers across multiple dealership locations.
Talent Acquisition: Coordinate and support recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, and ensuring hiring process consistency.
Lifecycle Management: Manage and execute onboarding and offboarding processes (including exit interviews and documentation) to ensure a smooth, compliant experience.
Employee Relations: Address employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and policy interpretation.
Performance Support: Partner with leadership on coaching, performance management, disciplinary actions, and documentation.
Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, with a heavy focus on California labor law.
Systems Management: Maintain accurate employee records within ADP Workforce Now and serve as the liaison for HR system support and reporting.
Culture & Presence: Maintain a visible and approachable presence across all dealership locations to support a strong organizational culture.
Policy & Benefits: Assist in the development and enforcement of company policies and support benefits communication for employees.
Qualifications
Certification: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is required.
Experience: 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Multi-Site Oversight: Experience supporting multiple locations or business units is preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Direct experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS systems.
Compliance Expertise: Strong, working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements.
Skills: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion; strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
