Job Description:

Modern Technologies LLC (DBA San Diego TV Install / SDTV) is a growing full-service AV, home theater, and smart home automation company based in San Diego. We specialize in premium TV mounting, structured wiring, whole-home audio, Control4, Sonos, Lutron, and high-end integration for residential and commercial clients. We are seeking a client-facing, professional AV Technician / Installer to join our team and deliver exceptional in-home experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform professional TV mounts on all surfaces (drywall, plaster, brick, concrete, wood studs, metal, etc.) with clean, hidden cable management.
• Install and configure AV equipment including TVs, AVR receivers, Sonos systems, soundbars, streaming devices, and other audio/video components.
• Terminate and test Cat6 network cabling, coax, and low-voltage wiring.
• Program and troubleshoot basic device integration (Sonos, AVRs, TVs, HDMI-CEC, etc.).
• Use professional AV tools and best practices for clean, high-quality installations.
• Deliver outstanding client-facing service – communicate clearly, manage expectations, maintain a professional appearance, and ensure every client feels confident in our work.
• Work independently or as part of a small team on residential and light commercial jobs across San Diego County.
• Represent the company with integrity, attention to detail, and a customer-first mindset.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a professional AV installer/technician with strong TV mounting skills across various wall types.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – you are comfortable interacting directly with homeowners and high-end clients.
• Hands-on knowledge of AV equipment: TVs, receivers, Sonos/multi-room audio, streaming devices, etc.
• Experience terminating and testing Cat6 and coax cabling.
• Familiarity with common AV tools, cable management techniques, and structured wiring best practices.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work safely at heights (ladders, etc.).
• Background check and drug screening will be required.

Preferred (but not required):

• Experience with Control4, Lutron, eero mesh networks, or other smart home platforms.
• Low-voltage wiring certification or structured cabling experience.
• C-7 or C-10 license (or willingness to obtain).
