What You'll Do
- Provide day-to-day support to individuals with I/DD, using ASL to ensure clear, respectful, and accessible communication.
- Assist with community access, including outings, appointments, and activities that build independence and social connections.
- Support with personal care tasks as needed, always prioritizing dignity, safety, and respect.
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments, helping with communication, understanding, and follow-through on care plans.
- Encourage positive peer interactions and recreational activities, acting as a mentor, teacher, guide, and advocate.
- Within your first 3–6 months, you build trusting, consistent relationships with the individuals you support and are seen by them as a reliable, respectful partner.
- You demonstrate strong judgment in day-to-day decisions, calmly handling problems or changes in plans and following safety and care guidelines.
- People you support are more engaged in community activities, appointments, and peer interactions because of your communication and encouragement.
- You actively participate in team communication, training, and feedback, showing growth in your skills and confidence in the role.
- Ability to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL); Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing candidates are all encouraged to apply.
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to stay calm, patient, and focused in a variety of situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a genuine passion for helping others learn, grow, and participate in their community.
- 21 years old, with reliable transportation, a valid CA Driver's License, ability to pass a background check, and a high school diploma or equivalent; prior human services or caregiving experience is a plus.
- $20.00–$21.00 per hour
- Health insurance, flexible schedules, and additional benefits for full-time positions
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Day shifts with rotating weekends
