What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthopedic Surgeon position at Modern Sports Medicine?
General Orthopedic Surgeon – $350/Hour | Part-Time | Ownership Opportunity
Primo Orthopedics | Phoenix Metro, Arizona
$350/Hour | 4 Days Per Month to Start | ASC Access | Pathway to Ownership
Looking for More Than Just Another Physician Job?
Are you an orthopedic surgeon who loves practicing medicine but is tired of hospital bureaucracy, corporate healthcare, or having little control over the direction of your career?
What if you could start with just four days a month and help build an orthopedic practice you could eventually have ownership in?
Primo Orthopedics is the orthopedic surgical division of Modern Sports Medicine, an established and growing musculoskeletal healthcare platform with 13 physical therapy and sports medicine clinics across Arizona.
We're expanding beyond physical therapy to build a fully integrated orthopedic care platform, bringing together orthopedic evaluations, advanced diagnostics, nonsurgical treatments, surgery, and rehabilitation.
Unlike starting a private practice from scratch, our surgeons join an established organization with existing clinical locations, operational infrastructure, centralized marketing, administrative support, and a growing patient network.
We're looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial General Orthopedic Surgeon who wants to get involved early, practice great medicine, and potentially grow into a leadership and ownership role as our orthopedic division expands.
This isn't a traditional hospital employment opportunity. It's a chance to help shape a growing orthopedic platform from the beginning.
The Opportunity
- $350 per hour starting compensation
- 4 clinic days per month to start, with opportunities to expand
- Locations on both the East and West sides of the Phoenix metro
- Access to an ambulatory surgery center (ASC)
- Established clinical facilities, administrative infrastructure, and support staff
- Centralized marketing, scheduling, billing, and operational support
- Backed by Modern Sports Medicine's established 13-clinic network
- Opportunity to participate in the growth and development of the orthopedic surgical division
- Potential pathway to equity ownership in the orthopedic service line as it grows, subject to mutually agreed terms
Start this as a side opportunity alongside your current practice. If it's the right fit, it could become something much more significant.
Why Primo Orthopedics?Get Back to Being a Physician.
We believe great orthopedic surgeons should spend their time evaluating patients, performing procedures, and practicing medicine — not managing front-office staffing, billing departments, marketing vendors, or administrative headaches.
Our established healthcare infrastructure is designed to handle much of the business side so our physicians can focus on patient care.
Get In Early. Grow With Us.
We're not looking for someone to simply fill a schedule. We're looking for a surgeon who sees the potential in building a physician-centered orthopedic platform.
As we expand our surgical specialties, clinical locations, and patient base, we intend to create opportunities for physicians to take on greater clinical leadership and potentially participate in ownership of the orthopedic service line.
The opportunity is to help build something, not simply work for something.
Independent Practice Feel. Established Platform Support.
Enjoy the autonomy and personal relationships of a smaller orthopedic practice, backed by the operational resources of an established and growing healthcare organization.
With 13 existing clinics across Arizona, Modern Sports Medicine provides an established foundation from which to grow the orthopedic division.
Our vision is to build a comprehensive musculoskeletal platform where physicians have the resources to deliver excellent care while participating in the long-term success of what they're helping create.
Start Small. Think Big.
We understand that leaving an established position or practice isn't a decision to make overnight.
That's why we're starting with just four days per month.
This opportunity allows you to maintain your current commitments while getting to know our team, our operations, and the potential of the platform.
As patient demand and the orthopedic division grow, there may be opportunities to expand your schedule, assume clinical leadership responsibilities, and explore an ownership arrangement.
You don't have to leave what you've built to start building what's next.
Who We're Looking For
- Board-certified or board-eligible orthopedic surgeon
- Active or eligible Arizona medical license
- Experience in general orthopedic evaluations and elective orthopedic surgery
- Interest in performing procedures at an ASC
- Comfortable providing both surgical and nonsurgical orthopedic care
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in the long-term growth of an orthopedic service line
Experience with total joint replacement, arthroscopy, or sports medicine procedures is particularly attractive.
We're especially interested in physicians who value clinical independence, enjoy collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and want to play a meaningful role in developing a growing orthopedic practice.
Your Next Chapter Could Start Four Days a Month.
Whether you're looking to supplement your current practice, gradually transition away from hospital or corporate employment, or eventually become an owner in a growing orthopedic platform, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
The infrastructure is already built. The platform is growing. Now we're looking for the right surgeons to help lead its next chapter.
We're building Primo Orthopedics for the long term and looking for the right physician to help shape what comes next.
