Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Powder Coat / Laborer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying high-quality powder coatings to various metal components, ensuring they meet strict quality standards. You will also assist with general labor tasks, materials handling, and surface preparation to support efficient production processes. Duties
- Prepare surfaces for coating by performing surface cleaning, sanding, and surface preparation using hand tools and power tools.
- Operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns and airless paint sprayers, ensuring even application of coatings according to specifications.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators and safety gear, to maintain a safe working environment during coating processes.
- Interpret production documents and work orders to understand coating requirements, color specifications, and quality standards.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts and cranes for loading, unloading, and moving heavy parts within the warehouse or fabrication area.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished parts for coating consistency, surface defects, and adherence to quality standards.
- Assist with fabrication, assembly, machining, or auto body repair tasks as needed to support production flow.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while working with hazardous materials or operating machinery in accordance with industrial painting and manufacturing best practices.
Experience
- Prior experience in powder coating, industrial painting, or manufacturing environments is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power tools, spray guns (including airless systems), welding equipment, and machining tools is advantageous.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to PPE use, respiratory protection, and handling of hazardous materials is essential.
- Basic math skills for measuring materials and interpreting technical documents are necessary for precise work execution.
- Experience operating forklifts or cranes is a plus; certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Warehouse experience or background in construction painting surface preparation can be beneficial in understanding workflow and safety standards.
