Merchant Assistant – E-Commerce Art & Framing
Passaic, NJ (on-site some flexible remote work)
We operate a multi-brand art and framing business built around custom picture frames, print-on-demand art, and framed wall décor, including:
* A New Jersey frame shop and online store offering custom frames, jersey framing, diploma framing, canvas stretching, and photo printing.
* Large e-commerce art and framing websiteswith hundreds of thousands of SKUs, multiple frame styles, and made-to-order framed art.
* A wholesale / trade platform serving interior designers, retailers, and hospitality clients with framed art, canvas, and custom framing.
Everything we sell is made-to-order: frames are cut, assembled, and finished in our workshop; prints are produced in-house; orders are packed and shipped across the U.S. Our focus is simple: deliver finished, high-quality products that arrive on time and exactly as described.
We’re looking for a Merchant Assistant to help keep our catalog, channels, and operations tight and organized so the production team can do their best work.
Role Overview
The Merchant Assistant supports the merchandising and operations side of the business:
Turning product ideas into live SKUs on multiple marketplaces.
Keeping product data clean and structured (sizes, frames, prices, attributes).
Helping ensure that what’s listed online is exactly what gets built and shipped.
Providing day-to-day support across projects, spreadsheets, and catalog work.
This is a hands-on, detail-heavy role in a flexible, entrepreneurial environment. You’ll be directly involved in how our products show up online and how they flow into production.
#Product & Catalog Management
* Create and update products across platforms (e.g., Shopify, marketplaces, and other sales channels) using provided templates and guidelines.
* Maintain size matrices and frame options
(colors, finishes, mouldings, glass types) so customers see accurate options.
* Support launches of new frame lines, art collections, jersey print products, and seasonal promotions.
* Standardize product titles, options, and attributes to improve both customer clarity and internal production accuracy.
Operations & Finished-Product Quality
* Translate product setups into clear, production-ready specifications so the frame shop and print shop always know what to build.
* Help catch and correct repeated issues (wrong size, wrong frame, missing hardware, etc.) by tightening product data and internal notes.
* Maintain simple checklists and documentation that reduce mistakes and support consistent quality across orders.
* Assist with prep for **busy seasons** (holiday, graduation, senior night, trade events) by pre-loading key products and bundles.
Data, Pricing & Structure
* Work heavily in Excel / Google Sheets to:
* Maintain SKU lists and catalog structures.
* Keep track of frame size ranges and shipping tiers.
* Assist with basic price checks and margin sanity checks.
* Help organize information from different sources (suppliers, moulding lines, art catalogs) into **usable, clean spreadsheets**.
Channel & Content Support
* Populate and adjust **collection pages, badges, and product groupings** based on direction from leadership and marketing.
* Assist with image assignments and product display logic (e.g., making sure correct lifestyle images and frame thumbnails appear).
* Prepare product lists, SKUs, and links for trade shows, interior designer outreach, and B2B programs**.
General Business Support
* Take on follow-up tasks that keep projects moving:
* Add these sizes to this collection
* Fix these product titles
* Check which SKUs are missing images
* Help turn recurring work into simple SOPs and checklists that the rest of the team can follow.
* Support special projects across brands as needed (e-commerce improvements, catalog clean-ups, new product lines).
Ideal Candidate
Required:
* E-commerce operations, merchandising, retail catalog management, or similar.
* Strong spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets / Excel): filters, sorting, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, CONCAT, basic logic. ( dont apply if you dont know excel)
* High attention to detail: you notice when sizes, titles, and prices don’t match or don’t make sense.
* Comfortable working in both computer-heavy tasks and a production/shop environment
* Able to handle multiple projects at once and work in a flexible, evolving business
* Experience with Shopify and at least one marketplace (Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, Etsy, Target Plus, etc.).
* Familiarity with basic SEO / merchandising concepts (titles, alt text, on-site search).
* Experience supporting **trade/wholesale customers or interior designers**.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 6–12 months:
* Our catalog is more organized and consistent across all channels.
* New frame sizes, collections, and products go live faster with fewer errors.
* Production receives clear, accurate order specs, reducing remakes and rework.
* Leadership spends less time chasing small catalog or data issues and more time on growth, sales, and new initiatives.
* We are better prepared for busy seasons and events because product and catalog work is under control.
