What are the responsibilities and job description for the Micro-Market Route Specialist position at Modern Market Vending LLC?
Micro-Market Route Specialist
Pay: Starting at $18 per hour, based on experience
Type: Full-Time, Hourly with Health Benefits
Location: Austin, TX
Schedule: Daytime hours, Mid-Week time off, work Thursday - Monday
Who We Are
Modern Market Vending builds luxury micro-markets inside the best residential towers, workplaces, and hotels in Austin. Less vending machine, more private neighborhood bodega behind a key fob or at your workplace. We are at 36 locations and growing fast.
We hold ourselves to hospitality-grade standards in a category that has been mediocre for decades. Our customers are residents and guests in premium buildings, and they notice the details.
About the Opportunity
We are hiring Micro-Market Route Specialists to be the daily face of Modern Market Vending in the buildings we serve. You will drive a route across Austin, restock and merchandise markets, build relationships with the property managers and building staff at each stop, and represent our brand to the residents who pass through your markets every day.
This is a real career role, not a stopgap job. We want people who take pride in their work, who notice the small things, and who are excited to grow with a small company that is going somewhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and restock products. Load your cargo van at the warehouse, transport pre-packed bins to multiple markets across Austin, and stock each market to MMV's standards.
- Equipment uptime: Keep equipment operating properly and address problems quickly.
- Avoiding stockouts: Make sure our best-selling products remain available for customers.
- Off-route top-offs: If equipment is stocked out or needs additional inventory, take ownership of it. Return to top it off that day when possible, or make it a priority the following day.
- Merchandise to a high standard at every market. Front-facing products, clean coolers, organized shelves, full inventory, current pricing.
- Be curious about inventory discrepancies or when new items show up taking extra time to make sure they scan at the kiosk and correct issues on the spot.
- Handle fresh and frozen products with care. Follow food safety standards and rotate inventory to keep everything in date.
- Use technology in the field. Update market software, log activity, and troubleshoot basic system issues on-site. We will train you on the systems.
- Represent MMV professionally at every property. Greet residents and building staff with warmth. Act as the on-site contact for property managers, resolving issues with professionalism.
- Maintain a clean cargo van. The vehicle is part of how we show up to clients.
- Cover after-hours shifts approximately once a month on a rotating basis.
Key Requirements
- Physically capable. Must be able to lift and move 50 to 75 lbs and handle long, physically active workdays including stairs, hand trucks, and bending.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Comfortable behind the wheel of a cargo van. No CDL required.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in delivery, route driving, merchandising, stocking, retail, hospitality, or customer-facing roles.
- Experience with vending, micro-markets, or food/beverage is a plus.
- Tech-comfortable. Comfortable with mobile apps and basic software. Quick learner on new systems.
- Positive, can-do attitude. Enthusiastic, adaptable, and motivated to tackle challenges.
- Reliable and professional. Dependable in attendance, safety, and representing our company on-site.
- Customer-friendly. Clear communicator who can build positive relationships with property staff and residents.
- Austin-based. Available full-time.
Why This Role
- Direct impact. We are a fast-growing company where your work has a direct impact. Property managers know us by you. Residents see your work every morning. Pride matters here.
- Advancement opportunities. We promote from within. As we expand, the strongest Micro-Market Route Specialists move into senior roles, supervisor roles, or new-city launches.
- Premium environments. You will spend your days inside the best buildings in Austin, not behind a loading dock in a warehouse district.
- Health benefits, PTO, and company-wide growth opportunities.
- A small team that respects you. We bring tech, aviation, and real estate backgrounds. None of us has been driving vending routes for twenty years. We need you, and we will treat you like it.
