Role Description The Day Porter role at Modern Maintenance, Inc. is a full-time, on-site position based in Kansas City, MO. The day porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of client facilities throughout the day, including common areas, restrooms, entrances, and high-traffic spaces. Daily tasks include routine cleaning, trash removal, stocking supplies, light dusting, spot mopping, and promptly addressing spills or cleanliness issues as they arise. The role also involves responding to customer requests, reporting maintenance needs, and serving as a visible point of contact to help ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Day porters work closely with supervisors and facility staff, following established procedures and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills to interact clearly and professionally with clients, visitors, and team members.
- Customer Service skills to respond to requests, handle concerns courteously, and support a positive facility experience.
- Ability to act as a Gatekeeper for facility cleanliness and standards, monitoring common areas and addressing issues promptly.
- Willingness to participate in Training and ongoing Education on cleaning procedures, safety, and use of equipment and supplies.
- Previous experience in janitorial, day porter, or facility services is preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift moderate weights for extended periods, following safety guidelines.
- Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work a consistent full-time schedule; high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
