Role Description The Operations Manager for the Machining Division is a full-time, on-site role based in Erie, PA, responsible for overseeing day-to-day machining operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met. This position leads production and manufacturing activities of the division associated with CNC machining and all other manufacturing processes, including quality control and the current engineering /project leader staff, to attain long and short-term divisional metrics directly associated with machining production operations performance. Manage a successful measurable continuous improvement program as it relates directly to operations efficiency and cost.
Qualifications
Must have a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, three years minimum practical production machining experience, and three years minimum in a manufacturing leadership role. Eight years of progressive experience in advanced manufacturing engineering may substitute for the degree requirement. Must be proficient with current computer software in the areas of inventory, manufacturing, engineering, and financial information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop and maintain CNC programming personnel and machining programs, methods, and process controls to ensure cost effective and efficient production.
- Identify and prioritize cost variance by part number and process and implement corrective action as necessary to achieve production rates and satisfactory cost/margin.
- Lead cost reduction and continuous improvement program with measurable goals to support division profit. Prepare related reports and exhibits.
- Advance the technological capabilities of the division as it relates to manufacturing, productivity, and quality.
- Lead daily prioritization and problems solving related to production issues, equipment failures, quality spills and quality control.
- Develop group leaders and other technical employees by mentoring and reviewing their performance and duties within the continuous improvement program.
- Lead engineering staff to effective performance.
- Mentor quality inspection staff, develop growth and skill levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work within a professional and office environment.
- Must be able to climb stairs occasionally.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to operate office equipment, computer, printers, copiers, etc., which includes all physical abilities required for data input.
- Must be able to lift, handle, and load machines with parts occasionally, weighing up to 50 lbs.
