Morge Forge, Piney Flats, TN, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Steel Purchasing Clerk to support procurement and logistics operations within a fast-paced die forging environment. This role plays a key part in coordinating raw material deliveries, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with material specifications and purchasing processes. After 30 days of service, you become eligible for company paid holidays. After 3 months of service, you become eligible for participation in our medical, dental, vision, and 401K coverage. Responsibilities
- Review Shear/Saw Dispatch List and determine truck delivery schedules based on steel requirements for production jobs
- Communicate delivery needs with mills and/or contract truck drivers
- Maintain and manage the steel delivery calendar
- Collaborate with scheduling and shear/saw departments to ensure on-time delivery; report delivery status to staff and supervisors as needed
- Enter material chemistry into ERP/MRP; verify diameter, grade, and specifications against purchase order requirements.
- Upload and maintain mill certifications tied to heat codes in ERP/MRP
- Reconcile inventory counts in (ERP/MRP) when determining delivery requirements
- Match Bills of Lading (BOLs) to invoices; to ensure accurate pricing then enter data in ERP/MRP and forward accounting documentation to Accounts Payable.
- Maintain organized records including completed purchase orders and supporting documents
- Assist as backup support to the Purchasing Coordinator as needed
- Support yearly standard cost updates and assist with data entry projects and continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing processes
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- 2 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems
