Dental Hygienist Job Description — Greensburg, PA
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform dental hygiene procedures including:
- Dental cleanings (prophylaxis), plaque removal, scaling and polishing.
- Taking and developing dental X-rays.
- Screening for oral diseases (gingivitis, periodontitis, caries, etc.).
- Apply preventive materials such as fluoride and sealants.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care techniques.
- Document patient history, treatment plans, and clinical notes.
- Maintain sterile instruments and operatory setup.
- Monitor supplies and assist dentists in patient care coordination.
Educational Requirements:
- Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program (CODA-accredited).
License / Certification:
- Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in Pennsylvania is required.
- CPR/BLS certification often required or preferred.
- Radiography Certification
Experience:
- Experience preferred but open to new graduates
Professional Skills:
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, OSHA/HIPAA safety and infection control protocols.
- Ability to use dental instruments, digital radiography, and hygiene equipment.
Pennsylvania Licensure Requirements
To work legally as a dental hygienist in Greensburg, you must meet Pennsylvania state requirements including:
Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program required
Passing the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and a clinical exam
Completing specified continuing education hours for licensure renewal.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
