What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager (Facilities) position at Modern Construction and Facilities Maintenance?
Modern Construction Services is growing fast, and our facilities work is moving faster. We are a certified WBENC women-owned commercial construction and facilities maintenance company, headquartered in Charlotte and serving clients nationwide. We need a Project Manager who can own a busy book of facilities projects from start to finish and keep all of them on track without letting anything slip.
What You Will Do
Modern Construction Services is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate every candidate.
What You Will Do
- Own facilities projects end to end: scope the work with the client, price it, line up the right labor, schedule it, and see it through to completion
- Keep a high-volume board moving, ramping toward 40 active projects at once, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks
- Be the daily point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and in-house technicians, with proactive updates and quick answers
- Build and manage the subcontractor bench: source, vet, and negotiate rates so the right partner is ready for every job
- Quote the work, collect approvals before anything starts, and keep every project detail current in the system
- You thrive on variety and a full plate, and you keep the thread on all of it
- You work a system, document as you go, and close every loop
- You want your pay to reflect what you deliver
- You do your best work one project at a time
- You want to be in the field most of the day. This is a desk-based coordination role
- A high volume of shifting priorities rattles you
- Two to five years managing projects, accounts, operations, or facilities. This is not an entry-level role
- Direct construction-side experience. We are a general contractor, and the background that translates comes from the construction provider side, ideally a smaller construction company doing facilities or higher-volume, smaller-dollar work. Owner's rep and property management are a different world than ours
- Calm under a high volume of moving parts, and able to reprioritize on the fly
- A clear, confident communicator who keeps clients steady even when the news is not good
- Strong with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook, and quick to learn a work order system such as Fexa or Corrigo
- High school diploma required. Trade school, an industry certification, or a college degree is a plus
- On-target earnings are $150,000 or more in year 1
- A base of up to $80,000 depending on experience
- Quarterly performance bonuses
- Annual company performance bonus
- Full benefits, including medical, dental, and vision, plus a 401k with 3% match
