Applied AI Engineer - Business Transformation

The opportunity

Modern Banking Systems, a subsidary of Finovifi, provides core banking, fraud prevention, compliance, and related technology solutions to community financial institutions. We are seeking a technically strong, curious, and proactive individual to help transform how our business operates through the practical application of artificial intelligence and automation.

This role is ideal for a recent Computer Science graduate, potentially with a master’s degree, who brings strong AI skills and wants to apply them to real business challenges. You will work directly with the COO and collaborate with our technology, development, operations, and customer service teams to turn opportunities for improvement into working solutions.

Our vision is to automate manual processes, improve customer interactions, reduce friction, modernize our software development experience, and strengthen back-end processing.

Your role

You will become part of the team, learn how our business and systems work, and identify where AI and automation can deliver measurable improvements. Success will require both technical ability and the interpersonal skills to work alongside colleagues, understand their challenges, and help them adopt new ways of working.

Key responsibilities

• Understand the business: Work with teams across Finovifi to map workflows, understand customer needs, and identify repetitive tasks, bottlenecks, and gaps in information.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities: Recommend practical uses of AI and automation based on business value, feasibility, and implementation effort.
• Build and test solutions: Develop prototypes, integrations, and workflow automations. Work with technical owners to move successful pilots into supported operational use.
• Improve customer interactions: Help teams access information faster, improve support responses, strengthen knowledge management, and simplify the customer experience.
• Enhance the development experience: Collaborate with developers on AI-assisted coding, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of existing systems.
• Improve back-end processing: Explore opportunities to automate data handling, reconciliation, exception identification, reporting, and operational monitoring.
• Support adoption: Explain solutions clearly, document how they work, provide training, and incorporate feedback from the people using them.
• Measure results: Track improvements in time saved, processing accuracy, service quality, adoption, and cost.
• Apply sound judgment: Work with technology and security teams to protect sensitive information, evaluate AI outputs, and maintain appropriate human oversight.

What we are looking for

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or a related discipline. A relevant master’s degree is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to build with AI, evidenced through academic projects, internships, personal projects, or professional experience.
• Strong programming skills, with familiarity with APIs, SQL, data integration, and software development practices.
• Practical understanding of generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and workflow automation.
• An ability to evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, usefulness, and cost.
• Strong analytical thinking and a willingness to investigate how a process works before proposing changes.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and nontechnical colleagues.
• Initiative, persistence, curiosity, and enthusiasm for delivering improvements that people actually use.
