Residential HVAC Inspection & Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Service Manager
Position Summary
Mode Comfort & Air Quality is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Residential HVAC Inspection Technician to perform comprehensive inspections of residential heating and cooling systems. This position focuses on evaluating system condition, identifying safety concerns, documenting findings, and educating homeowners on recommended repairs or replacement options. The ideal candidate takes pride in thorough inspections, excellent customer service, and maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of residential HVAC experience
- Valid EPA Section 608 (CFC) Certification required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of residential heating, cooling, and ventilation systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and inspection skills
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to homeowners
- Comfortable using tablets and mobile technology to complete inspection reports
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
- Ability to work independently while maintaining company standards
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform detailed inspections of residential HVAC systems, including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, mini-splits, air handlers, thermostats, ductwork, water heaters (tank and tankless) and indoor air quality equipment
- Inspect equipment for safety, efficiency, code compliance, and proper operation
- Identify worn or failed components and recommend appropriate repairs or replacement when needed
- Document inspection findings thoroughly with notes and photographs
- Complete accurate inspection reports and submit them promptly
- Explain inspection results and recommendations to homeowners in a professional, educational manner
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition
- Follow all company safety policies and industry best practices
- Represent Mode Comfort & Air Quality with professionalism and integrity on every customer visit
- Participate in training and continuing education as required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
