As our Lead Toolmaker, you'll play an important role in developing the tooling and workholding solutions that support our production operations.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, modify, and troubleshoot hydraulic workholding fixtures for CNC horizontal machining centers, including custom locating and clamping solutions.
• Design and manufacture specialized cutting tools and precision tooling.
• Apply 3-2-1 locating principles and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to tooling and fixture designs.
• Use CAD software to develop, modify, and improve tooling designs.
• Program and operate CNC equipment, including conversational programming.
• Operate manual machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision components.
• Diagnose tooling and machining challenges and develop effective, practical solutions.
• Work closely with machinists, supervisors, and other departments to support efficient manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate toolroom priorities and help ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Identify opportunities to improve tooling performance, manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety.
• Share technical knowledge and provide guidance to other team members.

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience in toolmaking, precision machining, or a closely related manufacturing trade.
• Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting workholding fixtures, preferably for CNC horizontal machining centers.
• Experience with hydraulic clamping systems and custom fixture designs.
• Ability to apply 3-2-1 locating principles and GD&T.
• Proficiency with manual and CNC machining equipment.
• Experience with CAD software and CNC programming.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work with close tolerances.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with production personnel.

Previous lead or supervisory experience is helpful, but strong technical skills, initiative, and the ability to guide others are equally important.
