Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor leads and coordinates the maintenance team, including scheduling, training, and overseeing maintenance technicians who maintain equipment on the production floor and complete other maintenance projects. This role ensures preventive maintenance programs are executed effectively, minimizes equipment downtime, and supports continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision & Scheduling: Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of maintenance technicians across all shifts.
- Work Order Planning: Plan, assign, and prioritize preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
- Training & Development: Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of maintenance technicians.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce all plant safety rules and lead or participate in safety meetings.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with production and engineering teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Budget & Inventory Management: Manage spare parts inventory and assist in controlling the maintenance department budget.
- Hands-On Support: Perform shift mechanic functions as needed to support the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous process improvement within the maintenance function.
- Staffing Support: Support recruiting, onboarding, and performance management of maintenance staff.
- General Duties:
- Complete non-routine maintenance projects as prescribed by management.
- Ensure process-related activities comply with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, VDA 6.3, or customer-specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Maintain 5S in work areas.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Specifications:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to self-motivate and work with minimal direction.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to analyze information and proactively solve problems rather than waiting for instructions.
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, with print reading and PLC programming/troubleshooting experience.
- Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
- Ability to communicate, interact, and work cooperatively with others at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and work overtime as assigned.
Additional Details:
- To be eligible to apply, employees must have performed competently for at least 12 months in their current position unless otherwise approved.
- To be eligible to apply, employees must possess: a technical degree or equivalent work experience, and five years of experience in industrial maintenance, including at least two years in a lead or supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
