Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Tow Truck Operator to join our team. This role involves operating heavy-duty tow trucks to assist with vehicle recoveries, roadside assistance, and transportation of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and commercial driving. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where safety, customer service, and technical expertise are paramount. Will operate light duty if heavy is not busy. Must be able to pass a background check and subject to random drug screening as required by DOT.
Duties
- Operate Heavy Tow Truck (50 Ton) and other tow truck equipment safely and efficiently to recover and transport vehicles.
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate tools and techniques, ensuring minimal damage.
- Perform basic automotive diagnostics and repairs as needed to prepare vehicles for transport.
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues with tow trucks and assist with minor repairs or adjustments.
- Manage customer interactions professionally, providing excellent customer service during roadside assistance or recovery calls.
- Maintain accurate records of all towing activities, including vehicle details and locations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during operations.
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy tow trucks. Experience with a 50-ton or larger tow truck.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and manual transmission vehicles.
- Commercial driving experience with a valid driver’s license suitable for heavy-duty vehicles, Class A required.
- Prior work involving load & unload procedures, conflict management, and customer service is preferred.
