Youth Gateway: Skills Trainer Full-Time Job Description
The Youth Gateway Skills Trainer provides coaching, training, and support services to young adults participating in Pre-Employment Training and Work Based Learning/Internships.
This full time position requires 32 hours a week. Work hours are flexible and will be scheduled to meet the needs of students. This position may require occasional daytime, evening or weekend availability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Deliver training in a manner that benefits people experiencing disability.
● Devise, plan and implement suitable coaching strategies
● Assist, encourage, and support youth in learning appropriate work behaviors.
● Track student progress and manage required student activities
● Conduct online and in-person training sessions
● Interact effectively with school staff, employers and parents
● Model appropriate skills, productive behaviors and effective communication.
● Maintain ongoing communication with students, parents and program staff
● Work collaboratively with Moceans staff
● Maintain accurate case data
● Timely, complete submission of all required reporting
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:
● Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a human services related field is required
● 2 years of experience in disability-related services, a youth program or post-high school educational program is strongly preferred
● Familiarity with remote platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Ability to work with staff and consumers on a cross-disability basis
● Ability to initiate projects, work collaboratively and communicate effectively
● Intermediate technology skills; Typing, Microsoft Office, Google workspace, Slack, Learning management systems
● Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
MOCEANS Center for Independent Living is a progressive, nonprofit disability resource center which provides consumer-driven services to assist people with disabilities in independent living in Monmouth and Ocean counties. We provide core services of Information and Referral, Advocacy, Peer Support, Independent Living Skills Education and Transition Services.
