This is a unique opportunity to be a foundational member of a growing cleantech startup tackling microplastic pollution. The role will start on a project-based basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time position depending on performance.
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Lead Engineer with a comprehensive background in mechanical, industrial, product, or civil engineering, paired with industrial or product design expertise. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end product development process, from ideation to production, with a focus on developing innovative water filtration hardware solutions. This role requires an individual who thrives in a startup environment, is adaptable, and is willing to take on a variety of responsibilities to contribute to the overall success of the project. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of sustainable filtration products
- Oversee and participate in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept design, prototyping, testing, and iteration to manufacturing.
- Coordinate and lead engineering teams, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and project management support.
- Conduct research and integrate insights related to water filtration, microplastics capture, and sustainability to drive product innovation.
- Collaborate with external partners, including manufacturers and R&D facilities, to develop scalable solutions.
- Design testing protocols, analyze data from filtration experiments, and validate technology performance.
- Work closely with business, legal, and marketing teams to align product features with company goals and user requirements.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in product design, engineering, and development, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing engineering/design projects.
- Strong expertise in mechanical or product engineering, with a focus on developing hardware systems and integrating IoT and AI technologies.
- Passion for water-related issues, specifically filtration systems, water technologies, and microplastics capture.
- Proficiency in prototyping, CAD software, and other design tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically while meeting deadlines and deliverables.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
Project Scope:
- Initial engagement is structured as a 3-4 month project with the potential to transition into a full-time position depending on performance

- Deliverables will focus on early-stage product development, proof of concept, and establishing foundational design parameters
- Successful project completion may lead to full-time opportunities or potential co-founder position
