Position Overview
The Retail Project Manager oversees all aspects of new retail store openings — from site evaluation and permitting to construction completion and grand opening. This role ensures that every location meets company standards, regulatory requirements, and project timelines. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented professional with experience managing multiple retail buildout projects across diverse markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of store development projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Partner with internal stakeholders, landlords, contractors, and vendors throughout site selection, design, construction, and opening phases.
- Support lease negotiations by providing site evaluation insights and technical feasibility assessments.
- Manage all permitting, licensing, and approval processes in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with city and county officials to secure timely permit approvals and resolve any project obstacles.
- Develop, monitor, and report on detailed project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Ensure all stores meet brand standards, safety regulations, and operational readiness before launch.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports, risk assessments, and milestone updates to senior management.
- Manage relationships with external consultants, engineers, and construction partners.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and consistency in future store rollouts.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of project management experience in retail store development, construction, or permitting.
- Strong understanding of licensing, zoning, and regulatory processes, particularly within Texas.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or Asana.
