Job Overview
Hackettstown Phone Repair is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Repair Intake Specialist to join our growing team. As the first point of contact for our customers, you will play a key role in creating an exceptional customer experience by assisting with repair inquiries, checking in devices, providing repair information, and coordinating with our technicians.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has excellent organizational skills, and is interested in technology. You do not need to be a repair technician, but a basic understanding of smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, gaming consoles, and other consumer electronics is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers in person, over the phone, and through email with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Check in customer devices and accurately document repair requests, device condition, reported issues, and customer information.
- Create and manage repair tickets while ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
- Explain repair options, turnaround times, pricing, warranties, and service recommendations.
- Communicate repair updates with customers throughout the repair process.
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure repairs are prioritized and completed efficiently.
- Receive, organize, and track replacement parts and inventory.
- Assist with ordering parts from suppliers when needed.
- Process customer payments and return completed devices.
- Maintain an organized front counter, reception area, and inventory storage.
- Answer customer questions regarding smartphones, tablets, computers, laptops, gaming consoles, and accessories.
- Sell screen protectors, phone cases, chargers, and other accessories while identifying customer needs.
- Assist with shipping and receiving mail-in repairs and supplier deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records within our point-of-sale and repair management systems.
- Provide outstanding customer service that reflects our commitment to quality and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, or a service-based business preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Comfortable using computers, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, gaming consoles, and consumer electronics is preferred but not required.
- Experience with inventory management or ordering parts is a plus.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the repair team.
- Willingness to learn new technology and repair processes.
