General Information

This is responsible technical work in the inspection, enforcement, examination, review, and analysis of construction plans to ensure compliance with the International Building Code, International Fire Prevention Code, and other applicable fire and life safety codes and regulations.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a GED, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in fire inspections, fire plans review, or the installation or design of fire protection systems associated with new construction and compliance with applicable fire and life safety codes.

Special Requirement

Possession of ICC Fire Inspector I and Fire Inspector II certifications, or equivalent Alabama Fire College Pro Board certifications.

Possession of ICC Fire Plans Examiner certification, or equivalent Alabama Fire College Pro Board certification, is required. Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.

Certification at Level III or higher through the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) in Automatic Extinguishing Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, or Special Hazards Systems, or an equivalent certification, is preferred.
