Director, Operations

Position Summary

The Operations Director is responsible for leading and optimizing all operational functions involved with deploying in-building wireless solutions. This role oversees project execution, field operations, installation performance, resource planning, vendor coordination, safety, quality, and operational process improvement. The Operations Director ensures DAS projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer, regulatory, and company standards.

This leader will report to the Vice President of the In-Building Wireless Solutions organization and will partner closely with Engineering, Sales, Network Services, Finance, and Executive Leadership to support growth, improve operational efficiency, and drive a high-performance culture across the organization. The Director will have over 100 people in their organization working across a large part of the United States. The team members include technicians, project managers, project coordinators, service managers, and construction managers.

The Director is responsible for driving and forecasting revenue from executed contracts and maximizing P&L contribution from that revenue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Leadership

  • Direct and manage day-to-day operations for DAS deployment, installation, commissioning, and support activities.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support company growth, customer satisfaction, and profitability goals.
  • Establish and monitor operational KPIs, productivity metrics, and service delivery standards.
  • Lead workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure efficient execution across multiple projects and markets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce delays, and improve quality and cost performance.

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee operational support for DAS projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Engineering teams to ensure accurate planning, readiness, and successful execution.
  • Monitor project risks, field issues, escalations, and capacity constraints; develop mitigation plans as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate coordination across internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, carriers, venue stakeholders, and customers.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handoff processes to ensure successful project completion.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop operations managers, field teams, warehouse/logistics personnel, and other operational staff.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and execution excellence.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback, training, and development opportunities.
  • Support talent planning, hiring, succession planning, and retention efforts within the operations function.

Financial & Business Management

  • Manage operational budgets, labor utilization, contractor spend, and cost controls to maximize profitability.
  • Partner with Finance and Executive Leadership on forecasting, capacity planning, and operational reporting.
  • Review operational performance data and recommend actions to improve margins, reduce rework, and optimize resource use.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of labor, materials, and equipment across projects and operational activities.

Process, Quality & Compliance

  • Standardize and enforce operational processes, SOPs, and best practices across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, customer requirements, carrier specifications, and applicable codes/regulations.
  • Lead quality assurance efforts to minimize rework and improve installation consistency and documentation.
  • Oversee operational readiness for audits, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all field and operational teams.

Vendor & Customer Collaboration

  • Manage operational relationships with subcontractors, equipment vendors, logistics providers, and service partners.
  • Support customer-facing operational discussions, escalations, and service reviews as needed.
  • Ensure vendors and subcontractors meet service, quality, safety, and performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to support customer satisfaction and long-term partnership growth.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Telecommunications, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 8 years of progressive operational leadership experience, preferably in DAS, wireless infrastructure, telecommunications, low-voltage systems, or related technical/construction environments.
  • 5 years of people leadership experience managing multiple teams, functions, or regions.
  • Strong knowledge of DAS deployment, wireless infrastructure, site operations, construction workflows, and project delivery practices.
  • Experience managing budgets, labor planning, vendor performance, and operational reporting.
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and compliance practices in field-based operations.
  • Proven success improving operational efficiency, scaling teams, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in neutral host DAS, public venue DAS, in-building wireless systems, or large-scale telecom infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with carrier requirements, permitting, testing/commissioning, and field deployment standards.
  • PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, OSHA, or related operational/project certifications.
  • Experience with ERP, project management, or workforce planning systems.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Combination of office, field, and customer site environments.
  • Regular travel may be required to project sites, customer locations, and regional offices.
  • May require flexibility to support critical project milestones or escalations.
