Moative , an Applied AI Services company, designs AI roadmaps, builds co-pilots and agentic
AI solutions for companies in a range of industries including energy and utilities. Through our
labs we build AI-led products and launch AI startups in vertical markets.
Our founders and leaders are math PhDs, Ivy League university alumni, ex-Googlers, and
successful entrepreneurs, who have built and sold companies earlier.
Business Context
Moative is building a ‘state of the art’ ensemble of models for power trading for a client of ours. We develop advanced AI/ ML models for load forecasting, energy price analysis and estimation, customer
analytics and related areas. We have a top decile offshore team consisting of AI/ML engineers
and quants/data scientists with strong credentials working out of Chennai, India. We are
looking for a senior leader with strong analytics and project management experience to work
from the client offices in Houston TX, US.
Work you’ll do
As a Senior Project Manager, you will steer an engagement that is already in full speed. We
are building innovative, state-of-the-art algorithms and platform-driven deployment that is
done for the first time in the power industry. The client, and the team are driven. We need you
to hit the ground running on Day 1.
Responsibilities
Client Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their
needs and expectations are understood and met. Build and maintain strong
relationships with key stakeholders that include the C-Suite, Traders, Data Scientists,
and Architects
Workstream Identification and Prioritization: Identify new workstreams and prioritize
them based on client needs and organizational goals. Develop project backlogs and
workstreams for the offshore AI/ML team that align with these priorities.
Project Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact between the client team and
offshore teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals. You
will work with the client business SMEs to define and agree on project goals, scope
and deliverables. Knowledge of analytics, machine learning, and data engineering
lifecycles is key. You will be in a room with data scientists, risk managers, and data
engineers. You need to understand and steer the conversation as an expert.
Team Management: Supervise the offshore AI/ML team and ensure they meet project
milestones and deliverables. You will ensure that the offshore team is receiving the
right domain and technical guidance and support from the onsite Energy SME
Business and Industry Oversight: Develop a deep understanding of the client’s
business, applications of AI/ML in their business and provide the necessary business
oversight and support.
Quality Assurance: Work with the offshore project manager to implement quality
assurance processes (unique to data engineering, model development, and model
productionizing) that ensure that all deliverables meet the highest standards of
accuracy and reliability.
Client Expectation Management: Regularly update clients on project progress, manage
their expectations, and ensure satisfaction through timely delivery and high-quality
work.
Delivery Management: Oversee the delivery of project milestones and final
deliverables, ensuring they meet the predefined criteria and timelines.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure
project success.
Stakeholder Communication: Regularly update stakeholders on project progress,
challenges, and achievements.
Who you are
You are a Project Manager who is passionate about using robust project management
practices to deliver quality solutions and products that delight customers. You have
experience managing projects in an onsite-offshore model with significant client engagement.
You have strong experience of working on data-driven solutions (analytics at the minimum
and ideally strong ML/AI project delivery experience), and preferably some experience
working in the energy and utilities industry.
You also have a keen interest, even if non-technical, in AI and it can be used to benefit energy
and utilities businesses. You thrive on taking initiatives, are very comfortable with ambiguity
and can passionately defend your decisions.
Requirements and skills
At least 10 years of experience in Project Management in an onsite-offshore model,
with 2 in the energy and utilities sector.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the
ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage remote
teams.
Preferable Technical Skills: Understanding of software development lifecycle, and
knowledge of data driven solutions and AI/ML applications. If this role and our work
