Machinist

Role and Responsibilities

The machinist reads blueprints and uses manual or CNC machines to cut, shape, and grind metal and other materials into precision parts. Key duties include setting up and operating equipment, monitoring machine performance, and inspecting finished products to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. Machinists also perform routine maintenance, collaborate with team members, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities Include

• Reading Technical Documents: Receipt of work orders and distribution. Interpret and understand blueprints, sketches, CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) files to products to exact specifications.
• Operating Machine Tools: Set-up, operate, and maintain machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and drill presses to shape, turn, mill, and grind parts.
• Tooling and Setting: Select and adjust cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and other machine parameters to achieve desired results.
• Quality Control: Perform and assign routine maintenance and repairs on machinery to ensure proper operation and prevent malfunction.
• Safety and Cleanliness: Adhere to safety rules and maintain a clean and organized work area.
