Position Summary
MOA Architecture, Inc. is seeking an experienced Architectural Project Manager / Senior Architectural Designer to lead the production and coordination of full construction document sets while serving as the primary point of contact for clients, consulting engineers, and permitting agencies. This position is for a highly self-directed professional who can manage projects from schematic design through permitting and construction administration with minimal oversight. Registration as an architect is not required; however, strong technical competency and project leadership experience are essential.
The ideal candidate is organized, communicative, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing both design and management responsibilities within a full-service architecture firm environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of complete construction document sets, including plans, sections, elevations, details, and schedules
- Manage projects from design through permitting and construction administration
- Serve as the primary project contact for clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs)
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, civil, and specialty consultants to ensure accurate and integrated documents
- Review consultant drawings for consistency, constructability, and code compliance
- Prepare and manage permitting submittals and respond to plan review comments
- Maintain project schedules, deliverables, and internal production timelines
- Conduct client meetings, consultant coordination calls, and contractor meetings
- Perform site visits and construction observations as needed
- Assist with design development, detailing, and problem solving during construction
- Mentor junior staff and support quality control of drawing sets
- Maintain MOA Architecture’s standards for professionalism, quality, and client service
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in an architectural design or project management role
- Proven experience producing full construction document sets independently
- Strong knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and permitting processes in the Southeast U.S.
- Proficiency in Revit (required), with strong technical drafting and documentation skills
- Experience coordinating multi-discipline consultant teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal oversight
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional demeanor when working with clients, contractors, and government agencies
- Willingness to travel to project sites and attend in-person meetings as needed
- Ability to work remotely when appropriate while maintaining accountability and responsiveness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a full-service architecture firm environment
- Familiarity with South Carolina and Georgia building and permitting jurisdictions
- Experience in renovation, adaptive reuse, higher education, civic, or community-focused projects
- Knowledge of construction administration procedures and field observation reporting
- Previous experience mentoring or leading junior design staff
