Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
- Develop and manage strategic patent portfolios for biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients.
- Advise clients on patent protection strategies throughout the innovation lifecycle.
- Work directly with scientists, inventors, research institutions, and in-house counsel.
- Collaborate with attorneys across a nationally recognized intellectual property practice.
Technical Focus
The ideal candidate will have experience with one or more of the following technologies:
- Synthetic Organic Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Chemical and Life Sciences Innovations
Expected Compensation
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office required.
- Active bar admission in Illinois.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Approximately five or more years of patent preparation and prosecution experience in a law firm environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently draft high-quality patent applications and manage complex prosecution matters.
- Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and client counseling skills.
- Senior Associate, Counsel, and Junior Partner candidates are encouraged to apply.
