Office Support Specialist Salary Range $ per hour
Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Waseca Site

Performs intermediate administrative support work professionally greeting and directing the flow of client inquiries as needed, assisting human services staff in their daily work, processing incoming and outgoing documents utilizing data management systems, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Office Support Supervisor.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Directly assists the public through face to face or telephone contact; providing authorized information about cases and forwarding inquiries to the appropriate staff person when not authorized.
· Performs standard clerical assistance duties such as maintaining calendars; filing; printing items; making copies, processing EBT cards and maintaining related inventory; accepting payments and issuing receipts; preparing correspondence, processing incoming and posting outgoing mail.
· Access and update more than 10 complex, program-specific electronic data base systems to support clients and co-workers.

Successful candidates will have:
· High school diploma or GED
· Moderate experience (1-3 years) in a customer service or clerical capacity
· Ability to pass a standard background check
· Have valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· General knowledge of the programs, policies and procedures of county human services
· General knowledge of social services laws and regulations
· Comprehensive skill operating standard office equipment and related hardware and software
· General skill composing and proofreading documents, notes, handouts and manuals
· Ability to take oral and written direction
· Ability to organize tasks and workflow with a limited amount of direction
· Ability to understand and make basic mathematical calculations
· Ability to process paperwork in a timely and efficient manner
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
· Ability to effectively communicate complex program information to clients
· Ability to type at a reasonable rate of speed
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and moderate (1-3 years) experience in a customer service or clerical capacity.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and lifting; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Work may occasionally require exposure to pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
