We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Education Director to lead the educational and operational success of a childcare center. This position requires a strong leader who can solve problems independently, take responsibility, ensure full compliance with Article 47 of the NYC Health Code, and build a positive, high-performing team. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and committed to providing high-quality early childhood education.
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with Article 47 of the NYC Health Code and all applicable licensing regulations.
- Oversee the daily operation of the childcare center, including opening, closing, staff coverage, and classroom supervision.
- Take ownership of operational challenges and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
- Build, implement, and oversee a developmentally appropriate curriculum for both infant/toddler and preschool classrooms.
- Mentor and support teachers to maintain high educational standards.
- Ensure classrooms maintain proper staffing ratios and compliance at all times.
- Manage child enrollment, registration, medical records, and required documentation.
- Maintain positive relationships with families and address parent concerns professionally.
- Coordinate staff schedules, meetings, and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare for inspections and regulatory visits.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a safe, organized, and nurturing environment.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and accountability in all aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Daycare Center Director overseeing both preschool and infant/toddler programs.
- Extensive experience with Article 47 compliance.
- Proven experience hiring, training, supervising, and managing staff.
- Experience developing and implementing early childhood curriculum.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
- Food Protection Certificate.
- S-95 Certificate of Fitness .
- W-07 Certificate of Fitness .
Pay: $87,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
