POSITION: Early Intervention Teacher
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9-Month Contract
SALARY: Refer to the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale

Job Summary:
The Early Intervention Teacher will work with students who require additional academic and behavioral support to succeed in the classroom. This role involves collaborating with parents, staff, and other specialists to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), delivering small-group or one-on-one instruction, and using evidence-based strategies to help students overcome challenges. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with young learners and have a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where all children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and instructional strategies tailored to meet the needs of students in early intervention programs.

• Provide direct instruction and support to students both in small groups and on an individual basis.

• Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, and other specialists to monitor student progress and adjust plans as needed.

• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and offer strategies for support at home.

• Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and other documentation related to student growth.

• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early intervention and special education.

Qualifications:

• Louisiana certification as a teacher for Early Interventionist (Birth - Five Years).

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

• Valid teaching certification in Early Childhood Education or Special Education.

• Experience working with children with diverse learning needs, preferably in an early intervention setting.

• Knowledge of various assessment tools and instructional strategies for young learners.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and other stakeholders.

• Passion for working with young children and supporting their growth in all areas.

• Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certification:
  Must meet the certification requirements set forth by the Louisiana Department of Education and/or the Louisiana Board of Elementary & Secondary Education at the time of employment. (See Bulletin 746)
  
  
• Education:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Elementary Education or a related field
• Master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred
• Valid Louisiana teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements
