Position Summary
The Clinical Team Lead supports the daily operations of the laboratory with a focus on workflow coordination, patient flow, and clinical support processes. This role serves as a resource to clinical staff, helping to ensure efficient operations, accurate documentation, and compliance with organizational policies and healthcare regulations. The Clinical Team Lead promotes consistent, high-quality, and patient-centered care delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support daily clinical workflows, including patient flow, rooming, and clinical support activities.
- Serve as a resource for clinical staff by providing guidance on procedures, workflows, and systems.
- Monitor clinical processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to organizational policies and standards.
- Assist in identifying workflow inefficiencies and support process improvement initiatives.
- Provide day-to-day operational support to clinical staff, helping to troubleshoot routine issues and ensure continuity of care.
- Partner with leadership to communicate updates, workflow changes, and departmental priorities.
- Support onboarding and training of new clinical team members in coordination with leadership.
- Assist with coordination of staff schedules and coverage to maintain efficient clinical operations in a non-supervisory capacity.
- Ensure appropriate handling of patient information, documentation, and clinical records in compliance with policies.
- Support adherence to clinical quality, safety, and infection control standards within daily workflows.
- Promote a positive patient experience by supporting consistent and professional clinical interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the department and organization.
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science
- 2–4 years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Prior experience serving as a lead or resource to peers preferred.
- Additional clinical credentials or licensure may be preferred based on department needs.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of clinical workflows, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations.
- Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to support and guide staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a clinical office setting and involves frequent telephone and in-person communication with patients and staff.
- The role involves continuous engagement and interaction with others and may involve occasional or frequent interruptions.
