What are the responsibilities and job description for the Client Solutions Engineer position at MM Solutions?
Description:
The Client Solutions Engineer owns highly customized electronic and cable/harness assembly projects from initial technical review and quoting through production and delivery. The role is approximately 50% technical quoting and project development and 50% project execution, customer coordination, and production support.
This engineer works directly with customers to define requirements, identify risks and opportunities, develop accurate labor and material assumptions, and translate each custom request into an executable production plan. During the build, the engineer keeps projects moving by monitoring progress, resolving technical and material issues, maintaining clear customer communication, and driving decisions and follow-up without waiting to be prompted.
Success in this role means creating momentum: anticipating the next step, following through with open items, and actively coaching customers through the information and decisions needed to keep their projects on schedule.
Essential Functions:
Technical Review and Quoting
Support highly customized electronic and cable/harness assemblies, including projects subject to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Space Addendum requirements.
Lead the technical quoting process for projects ranging from short-duration builds to complex efforts lasting up to nine months.
Review customer drawings and specifications to define requirements, assess manufacturability, and identify gaps, risks, or improvement opportunities.
Work directly with customers to resolve technical questions and determine required processes, certifications, tooling, skills, and resources.
Develop labor estimates and support material-cost analysis, including sourcing, availability, and substitution challenges.
Evaluate project feasibility, lead times, and current and future production capacity.
Project Launch and Technical Handoff
Serve as the primary technical and project contact for assigned customers, providing updates and setting clear expectations.
Review purchase orders and proactively obtain missing, incomplete, or delayed customer documentation before work begins.
Lead technical and kickoff meetings when additional review or customer coordination is needed.
Complete a technical handoff with the work-instruction specialist and production stakeholders before launch.
Maintain accurate, revision-controlled production files and ensure the floor has current, approved information.
Participate in leadership reviews of project scope, risk, capacity, pricing assumptions, and production readiness.
Manage quote revisions, technical clarifications, and other follow-up needed to move approved work into production.
Project Execution and Customer Coordination
Independently manage multiple projects at different stages, maintaining priorities, deadlines, next steps, and follow-up.
Participate in weekly internal and customer project meetings.
Monitor production progress against lead times, commitments, and customer expectations.
Identify technical, scheduling, capacity, or material risks early; explain their impact; and coordinate timely decisions.
Resolve drawing, assembly, material, and manufacturability questions with production and technical specialists.
Keep projects moving when customer responses are delayed by establishing clear questions, response deadlines, documented assumptions, and recommended solutions.
