Job Overview
We are looking for a ServiceNow Architect to lead the architecture, scalability, governance, and technical strategy for enterprise citizen development initiatives on the ServiceNow platform. This individual will serve as the technical authority for low-code/no-code development standards while ensuring platform health, maintainability, and enterprise alignment.
The ideal candidate will possess deep ServiceNow architecture expertise and experience designing scalable platform solutions, governance frameworks, integrations, and enterprise operating models.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Strategy
- Define the architectural vision for citizen development on ServiceNow
- Establish scalable patterns, reusable frameworks, and enterprise development standards
- Design governance controls for low-code/no-code application development
- Define approved architecture patterns for App Engine, Flow Designer, UI Builder, and IntegrationHub
Enterprise Governance
- Partner with Security, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to ensure compliance with enterprise policies
- Create architectural guardrails to prevent technical debt and uncontrolled customization
- Define standards for data modeling, CMDB alignment, integrations, and application lifecycle management
- Establish review boards and governance checkpoints for citizen-developed applications
Technical Leadership
- Provide architectural guidance to ServiceNow developers, citizen developers, and platform teams
- Lead design reviews and approve complex solution architectures
- Mentor technical teams on best practices, scalability, and maintainability
- Evaluate platform enhancements and recommend continuous improvements
Platform Performance & Risk Management
- Ensure platform scalability, performance optimization, and upgrade readiness
- Identify risks related to integrations, custom applications, workflows, and data management
- Drive remediation strategies for platform issues and technical debt
- Define monitoring and reporting standards for citizen development activities
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with Product Owners, Release Management, and Engineering teams
- Support transition planning from citizen-built applications to enterprise engineering ownership
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technical strategy with operational goals
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of IT experience with 6 years focused on ServiceNow architecture
- Deep expertise in ServiceNow platform architecture and enterprise implementations
- Strong experience with App Engine, Flow Designer, UI Builder, IntegrationHub, CMDB, and Service Portal
- Proven experience designing governance frameworks and scalable ServiceNow solutions
- Strong understanding of security, platform performance, integrations, and upgrade strategies
- Experience leading architecture reviews and enterprise platform governance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) preferred
- Additional ServiceNow certifications (CSA, CAD, CIS)
- Experience with enterprise low-code/no-code governance models
- ITIL certification or enterprise ITSM background
- Experience in large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives
