Position Title: Member Service Representative
Department: District I (Hickman County - Centerville, TN)
Job Duties:
- Collects electric bills, balances Kiosk, balances daily cash drawer, makes daily deposits in bank, and enters total of daily cash collected in computer terminal.
- Answers telephone, reporting outages or trouble-calls to appropriate personnel, answering general information questions about electrical service, broadband, marketing programs and electric bills.
- Processes service orders and performs necessary steps in transferring electric service, handling new services, cut outs/ins, and meter changes.
- Performs necessary steps in setting up new MLConnect accounts and answers MLConnect member questions as necessary.
- Educates members on prepay services by explaining criteria and setting up accounts.
- Operates Cooperative radio, relaying needed information.
- Makes appointments for engineering technicians.
- Serves as front-line Cooperative member service representative handling member complaints, answering questions and explaining Cooperative's and MLConnect's rates, policies, procedures and promoting available programs. Provides excellent customer service to our members/subscribers.
- Originates collection of accounts by preparing orders for disconnection/collection.
- Works district and annual meeting as required.
- Performs administrative duties for the District Manager as needed.
- Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to policies, procedures and regulations set forth by MLEC, local, state and federal law.
- Serves members/customers and fellow employees by providing service requested, answering questions and offering assistance.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Requirements: One to two years of related experience preferred. Experience with computer operations including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Internet, data entry, keyboarding, handling money, and customer service. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills required. The ability to tactfully and cheerfully communicate with the membership, general public and fellow employees face to face, in emails/slack and on the telephone required. Valid driver's license is required.
Reporting Location: Position reports to District I - Hickman County office. Travel to other offices may be required.
Residency Requirement: Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the MLEC service area unless authorized by the CEO and Department VP.
