Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mortgage Non-QM Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience underwriting Non-Qualified Mortgage (Non-QM) loans and a deep understanding of Non-QM guidelines and risk assessment.
This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while delivering exceptional customer service and supporting our mission of providing innovative mortgage solutions.
Duties
- Analyze and evaluate Non-QM loan applications to determine borrower eligibility in accordance with company policies and investor guidelines.
- Review credit reports, income documentation, assets, and collateral to assess risk and determine loan suitability.
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies or red flags in loan files, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
- Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify loan conditions.
- Provide clear and concise loan decisions, including approvals, suspensions, and declines, with well-documented explanations.
- Stay current with Non-QM industry trends, investor guidelines, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with management to recommend improvements to underwriting processes and guidelines.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, with a focus on Non-QM loans.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Non-QM guidelines and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Certifications: DE (Direct Endorsement) certification or equivalent is a plus but not required.
