Tax Director – Alinea CPA Firm

We are seeking a highly motivated Tax Director to lead corporate tax engagements and support our continued growth.
Position Summary
The Tax Director will play a critical role in managing and reviewing complex tax engagements, with a strong emphasis on corporate tax matters. This position includes team leadership (managing a small team) and collaboration across departments to ensure accountability in quality and timeliness in tax compliance, planning, and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review complex corporate tax returns (federal, state, and local).
- Oversee tax planning strategies and advise clients on tax-saving opportunities.
- Supervise and mentor a small team of tax staff with accountability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with the CEO, COO, and the leadership team on strategic tax matters and client service initiatives.
- Review client financials and identify areas of risk, opportunity, and improvement.
- Ensure timely and accurate filings in accordance with firm quality standards.
- Support business development efforts through client meetings and presentations as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation required.
- Active CPA or EA license required.
- Minimum 2 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, with a focus on corporate clients.
- Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state corporate taxation.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing client engagements.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and client relationship skills.
- Experience with tax software and workflow tools (e.g., UltraTax, CCH, or similar) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Tax Planning, including developing and implementing tax strategies
- Expertise in Tax Compliance, ensuring adherence to all tax laws and regulations
- Experience in Tax Preparation, including preparing and reviewing tax returns
- Strong knowledge of Tax Law
- Extensive experience working with various types of taxes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Must pass a background check
