Job Overview:
As a housekeeper you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents. Your work will contribute to enhancing their quality of life by ensuring living spaces, common areas, residents’ homes, and facilities are well-kept and welcoming. In this role you will have a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and commitment to providing a welcoming and hygienic environment for our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Follow cleaning schedule and instructions as directed by supervisor, including residential homes and public areas.
- Sweep and vacuum all assigned areas.
- Clean and/or polish all room furnishing, fixtures, ledges, heating/air conditioning units in resident rooms and all public areas.
- Clean walls and ceiling by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing.
- Clean all community shows, toilets, sinks, countertops, and baseboards, stock with paper towels, toilet paper, soap and shampoo.
- Clean and check model rooms and work in concert with the maintenance to ensure that all incoming residents’ homes are cleaned and ready for move-in.
- Clean all hallways, stairways and elevators as necessary.
- Clean employee break area when necessary.

- Empty trash in offices and public areas.
- Report to supervisor any unsafe/hazardous conditions within the Community and any needed repairs to housekeeping or other facility equipment.
- Keep janitor closets and housekeeping supply rooms clean and orderly.
- Other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the supervisor.
- Responsible for ensuring that all employees are providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Perform job duties for residents and with team members in a courteous and professional manner.
- Take initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction is a priority.
- Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents’ families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors and regulators).
- Communicate professionally and cooperate with supervisors and all community personnel.
- Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
- Ability to remain calm under stressful situations.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual.
- Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents and staff.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people in the community.
- Is involved with resident, personnel, and visitors under all conditions and circumstances.
- Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must meet all health and safety requirements.
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One-year related experience in a similar environment with on-the-job training preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
- Scheduled hours; possible overtime. Works in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.).
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., through the workday, as well as to reactions to dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Including but not limited to sitting/standing in place for short/long periods at a time, repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists, arms, frequent walking, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing/pulling/lifting 25 lbs. High people interaction, bright and low lighting, loud noises, fluctuating temperatures, exposure to odors communicable illness/disease and other related infectious contagions found in a healthcare/residential setting.
