Grounds and Facilities Maintenance

General Maintenance is responsible for a wide variety of custodial and maintenance duties to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment for all employees and customers.

Essential duties and responsibilities 

• Shovels snow in the winter, maintains upkeep of the ice rink
• Maintains repairs on buildings, equipment, utility systems, and grounds throughout the village
• Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs
• Responds to emergency calls for maintenance in village
• Performs touch up and finishes paint jobs
• Landscaping upkeep as needed
• Ability to keep the entire village looking presentable by sweeping, shoveling, emptying garbage cans, picking up litter
• Ability to mop floors and clean bathrooms
• Responsible for removing leaves, sticks, and litter from the water/waterfront
• Ability to use snow blower, leaf blower, etc
• Ability to climb ladders
• Flexibility with hours and schedules, ability to be on call
• Any additional tasks asked by supervisor

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Tooling: Ability to effectively use many tools and read manuals

Communication: Able to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel, able to clearly and effectively communicate information both orally and in writing

Problem Solving: Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and solve problems.

  Computer Skills: Microsoft Office experience preferred. Knowledge of operating a computer preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is quiet to medium loud. Work is done in an office, outside, in water, in any/all buildings and areas within the village. Work will be done in cold – hot weather with snow, sun, rain, wind.

  Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, shovel, sweep, tool, walk, and many other physical demands for extended periods of time. Employee regularly uses hands and fingers to touch, feel, handle. Employee regularly stoops, kneels, bend at the waist, and reaches.   Employee is frequently required to speak and hear.  Must be able to lift 100 or more pounds on occasion
