Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead its payables function and support a high-volume, fast-moving finance team. This person will be responsible for overseeing daily AP operations, guiding a small team, strengthening vendor relationships, and ensuring strong financial controls across the organization.
You’ll manage the full lifecycle of accounts payable—from invoice intake all the way through payment—while building efficient processes that support accuracy, transparency, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, coaching team members, and enhancing systems as the business continues to grow.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily AP activities, ensuring invoices are coded, approved, and processed promptly.
- Manage weekly and monthly payment cycles, including ACH, checks, wires, and card payments.
- Review AP batches, reconciliations, journal entries, and aging reports for accuracy.
- Maintain detailed, organized financial records consistent with company standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for vendor questions, disputes, and problem-solving.
- Support vendor onboarding, ensuring documentation and tax forms are properly collected.
- Negotiate payment terms when appropriate and ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Ensure AP practices align with internal controls, financial policies, and GAAP expectations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close by preparing reports, accruals, and supporting documentation.
- Partner with auditors by supplying requested AP schedules, explanations, and records.
- Identify opportunities to automate workflows and enhance AP efficiencies.
- Work closely with internal systems or IT teams to maintain and troubleshoot the AP/ERP module.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures to support evolving processes.
- Lead, train, and mentor AP team members, fostering accountability and professional growth.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and create development plans as needed.
