We are seeking an Accountant / Bookkeeper to take full ownership of the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. This highly visible role reports directly to the company’s leadership team. This is a full-time on-site position at our Lombard shop. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, and be able to work independently and in a team environment. Position Summary:
Process the day-to-day financial transactions of the business including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, employee expenses, reconcile accounts, prepare reports and tax forms, etc.
Communicate, explain, and administer employment benefits; implement and enforce company policies and procedures; advise management on needed actions.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile bills to purchase orders and receiving records, resolve discrepancies, if any
- Process and record all bills, ensure they are paid timely and accurately, and take discounts when allowed
- Review and process expense reports; import and process employee credit card transactions
- Review sales orders; monitor fulfillment progress; issue invoices to customers
- Monitor receivables, and follow up with customers on past due accounts
- Monitor, review and verify accounting records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness, and adequacy of supporting documentation
- Comply with agency, local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, including sales and use tax returns, property tax reports, business registration renewals, annual reports, etc.
- Research and document tax and labor laws as needed
- Process payroll; administer employee benefits
- Update, communicate, explain, and enforce company policies and procedures
- Maintain fixed assets and rental equipment records
- Maintain insurance policies and schedules, including inland marine insurance and auto insurance; distribute and collect insurance certificates to and from customers and suppliers as needed
- Perform other financial and administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
- Minimum of five years accounting and multi-state sales tax experience
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel, Word, Access, and Google Apps
- Working knowledge of federal and state taxation and labor laws, rules and regulations
- Strong math, analytical, organization, and time management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy, thoroughness, and follow through
- Self-motivated, proactive in problem solving and process improvements
Salary : $65,000 - $85,000
