As a member of the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the industry we have the privilege of tailoring our store to meet our community needs. In addition to providing the community with their hardware needs we also sell lumber, fence, tack, fertilizer and Purina Feed.

General Summary
The Tool Sales Associate will assist in the receiving, stocking, pricing of all merchandise and help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall store cleanliness. Providing assistance to customers within the Tool Department.

General Duties & Responsibilities

*Provide a positive representation of MJK Sales & Feed, Inc -Ace Hardware
*Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
*Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
*Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
*Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
*Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
*Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
*Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.
*Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.
*Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.
*Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
*Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area.
*Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
*Assist with merchandise resets through the department.
*Provide assistance to Department Heads, i.e. price changes, special orders.
*Ensure signage is current throughout the department.
*Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to a member of the management team.
*Participate in store meetings.
*Be professional in appearance and actions.
*Perform all other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

*Advise customers on selecting the right hand tools, power tools, fasteners, and plumbing or electrical supplies for their specific projects.
*Explain product features, safety guidelines, and proper operation of tools and equipment.
*Inspect returned tools and hardware to determine if items are defective or can be safely returned to stock.
*Maintain accurate stock counts of all merchandise located in the tool department.
*Conduct cycle counts regularly throughout the year to maintain accurate supply levels.
*Suggest necessary accessories (like drill bits, saw blades, or safety gear), extended warranties, and store loyalty programs to maximize the sale.
*Answer inquiries regarding product availability, pricing, vendor warranties, and repair services.
*Secure high-value items, ensure safety locks are functioning properly, and maintain a hazard-free work environment.
*Stay up-to-date with new tool technology, such as brushless motors, battery voltage platforms (e.g.,(18V) vs. (20V) or (60V) systems), and smart-tool features.
*Complete up to date tools training provided through Ace Learning Place.

Education/Training
*High School or GED equivalent.

Experience
*Formal retail experience preferred but not required.
*Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and building supplies.
*Experience using barcode scanners and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Physical Demands
*Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50lbs) and climbing.
