GIS Technician

MJ is actively seeking a GIS technician to join our team to assist with current and exciting future projects. We are seeking a motivated candidate with a strong interest in GIS that is well organized, resourceful, and has strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Entry- to mid-level member of a geospatial group specializing in all aspects of infrastructure mapping and terrestrial LiDAR including data collection, 3D modeling, mapping, and app development
• Work with the team by utilizing a variety of GIS, CAD, and programming software to complete mapping and GIS projects
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of 2 years college coursework with a concentration in GIS, land surveying, or similar with an additional 1-3 years of related experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience that provides proficiency in the following:
• The fundamental principles and technical skills related to GIS mapping and data management including database setup, data development and QA/QC, and map creation
• The Esri GIS software platform for desktop and web including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
• Setup and utilization of web GIS / GPS field data collection using ArcGIS Online and Esri Field Maps
• General office software such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Google Earth, etc.
  
  

OTHER KNOWLEDGE A PREFERRED CANDIDATE MAY HAVE, BUT IS NOT REQUIRED:

• CAD drafting in AutoCAD or MicroStation
• LiDAR data collection, processing, extraction, or management
• Data conversion and exchange between GIS and CAD platforms
• Web GIS development using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavasScript or similar
• Python scripting and automation
• Understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise
• Infrastructure record plan georeferencing, interpretation, and data conversion

• Read and interpret maps and plan drawings
• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others
• Excel in a fast-paced work environment
• Learn new skills both independently and under the direction of senior staff

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
