Duties
- Safely operate a range of commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, and specialized equipment like forklifts or dump trucks.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques while adhering to safety protocols.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules.
- Comply with all DOT (Department of Transportation), FMCSA, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling requirements.
- Manage logistics cargo handling with precision to ensure proper securing and documentation of freight.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to uphold safety standards.
- Load and unload cargo accurately while ensuring proper documentation for each shipment.
- Handle hazardous materials or dangerous goods following strict safety guidelines when required.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate routes and address any delivery issues promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and freight delivery.
- Hands-on experience operating manual transmission trucks is highly desirable.
- Prior work with refrigerated trailers is preferred.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling and load & unload procedures in various environments.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety compliance standards.
- Delivery driver experience involving freight transportation across regional or long-haul routes.
- Ability to operate additional equipment such as forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading cargo.
- Strong understanding of truck maintenance routines and safety protocols for tractor-trailers and specialized vehicles.
- 1 year of CDL Class A experience
