Due to growth, we are looking to add a buyer planner to our Supply Chain team! The Buyer Planner is responsible for ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of finished goods and key components to support MITY Inc’s manufacturing and customer demand. This role manages supplier relationships, monitors inventory levels, plans replenishment, and aligns material availability with production and sales forecasts. The ideal candidate has strong experience in finished goods purchasing, inventory planning, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple product lines and changing priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Procurement & Buying
- Purchase finished goods and components to support manufacturing and customer orders, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Inventory & Production Planning
- Plan and manage inventory levels to meet service level goals while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Execute demand and supply planning based on production schedules, forecasts, and historical consumption trends.
- Review and adjust safety stock, reorder points, and lead times regularly to reflect current demand patterns.
- Generate and analyze inventory and purchasing reports to ensure alignment with working capital targets.
- Collaborate with production planners to align material availability with weekly build plans.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with Sales and Operations to ensure supply continuity for customer orders and new product launches.
- Participate in weekly S&OE (Sales & Operations Execution) meetings to provide updates on supply risks and material readiness.
- Work with Logistics to ensure efficient inbound and outbound material flow.
- Support Finance with accurate costing, purchase accruals, and inventory valuation data.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers; negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to late deliveries, shortages, or quality discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate item and vendor master data in ERP system (e.g., Dynamics NAV or similar).
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Product Development teams to onboard new suppliers and components.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-3 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience purchasing finished goods or OEM products from domestic and/or international suppliers.
- Strong understanding of inventory planning principles, MRP systems, and ERP tools (experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred).
- Proficient in Excel and data analysis tools; Jet Reports experience a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, build-to-order manufacturing environment.
