The Facilities Improvement Technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks which include the maintenance, sanitation, and improvement of MityLite facilities and campus. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc.). Performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned.
Current hours are Monday - Friday 6am- 2:30pm
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed
- Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment and amenities
- Clean windows and glass doors
- Lighting, alarm systems, HVAC systems [with the help of outside contractors]
- Prepare classrooms for incoming classes; remove or rearrange furniture for events or classes, as needed
- Remove and properly dispose of all recyclable materials
- Change light bulbs, interior and exterior, as needed
- Overhead door maintenance and repair
- Cooler maintenance
- Grounds maintenance [lawn care is done by outside contractor]
- Plumbing repairs for restrooms and break rooms
- Parking lot cleanliness and maintenance
- Duct and smoke collector maintenance
- Maintain exterior property, including snow removal
- Oversee daily trash removal, restocking/cleaning restrooms, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming, cleaning/disinfecting tables and counters, cleaning exterior entryway/cigarette receptacles, graffiti removal, cleaning/polishing/floor maintenance for elevators, cleaning/disinfecting community surfaces (hand rails, water fountains, vending machines, etc.), conference rooms, offices spaces, hallways, etc.
- Working with Maintenance Team and coordinating with HR, Operations and other areas to deliver great service
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Ability to push/pull/lift 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders
- Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints
