Mittry Construction is a well-established used heavy equipment dealer serving state, national, and international markets. We move a wide range of iron - excavators, dozers, crushing and screening plants, trucks, trailers, and more. We're looking for a Shop Foreman / Lead Tech who knows heavy equipment inside and out and can run a shop with minimal hand-holding.
Role Description
The Shop Foreman will oversee the day-to-day operations of the construction equipment shop to ensure productivity, efficiency, and safety. Responsibilities include supervising maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, managing a team of technicians, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and coordinating with other departments to meet operational goals. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Redding, CA.
Qualifications
- Strong Supervisory Skills, including team management and task delegation
- Proficiency in diagnosing, operating, and maintaining Heavy Equipment
- Effective Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively
- Experience in Carpentry and general construction
- Technical skills in Maintenance and repair of equipment
- Understanding of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing daily challenges
- Prior experience in a shop foreman or similar leadership role preferred
What You'll Do
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair incoming used equipment across a broad range of makes and models (Cat, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Case, and more)
- Directly supervise a team of two technicians and a yard hand - assign work, set priorities, and keep the workflow moving
- Technical Knowledge and experience with various Computer Diagnostics Tools
- Maintain shop workflow, tool inventory, and safety compliance
- Communicate directly with ownership on equipment status, repair timelines, and reconditioning decisions
- Coordinate with outside vendors and parts suppliers as needed
Typical Day involves minimal yet required office work followed by actively turning wrenches throughout the day to maintain production levels
