About the role:
The Senior Manager, Material Planning, is responsible for all operational planning of raw materials for our Houston factory. This role will oversee a team of buyers who will manage the procurement of components and raw materials to support production. This role is responsible for holding suppliers accountable for on-time delivery and will work closely with our commodity management team to monitor supplier performance. The Sr. Manager, Material Planning, is responsible for the raw material inventory strategy to minimize excess and obsolete materials while meeting production schedules.
What you will do:
- Responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Material Planning Team, consisting of Senior Buyer and Planners, and Buyer and Planners. Coach, lead, and develop team members.
- Establish department goals and metrics to ensure proper adherence to key initiatives. Monitor, track, and report supplier performance and coordinate improvement efforts and countermeasures with the appropriate supplier and Commodity Manager.
- Identify under-performing and problem suppliers.
- Determine root cause analysis and enact corrective actions.
- Monitor inventory levels to reduce excess, slow-moving, or obsolete stock while maintaining high accuracy. Establish and maintain supply parameters, including safety stock and minimum order quantities.
- Monitor and analyze material requirements to adjust production plans in response to changes in demand, inventory levels, and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders and supplier transactions.
- Ensure MRP/ERP systems are optimized to support accurate material planning in line with the production plan.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, finance, logistics, corporate planning, and quality teams to drive process improvement and efficiency projects.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams on all new product introductions.
When & Where:
40 hour work week in-office Mon-Fri. Travel 10% of the time.
Qualifications:What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in materials planning, inventory management, or supply chain operations
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong analytical capabilities (e.g., MS Excel, Power BI) and expertise in MRP systems
- Relevant experience with JIT, VMI, Warehousing, and Lean Operations
- Extensive experience in managing expedites and critical parts delivery
- Proven background in leading significant change in efforts to optimize inventory planning
- Excellent negotiation, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills
What would be nice to have:
- Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field
- Experience using SAP ERP
- Industrial equipment manufacturing experience

The salary for this position ranges from $107, 653 to $145,168 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
