Vice President of Finance and Controller

Role Description

This is a full-time, US based role for Vice President of Finance and Controller. The role involves managing financial planning, financial statements, finance, analytical skills, and financial reporting on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications

• 10 years of progressive finance experience, ideally including experience as VP Finance or a growth-stage company.
• Proven track record of building financial controls, forecasting models, and reporting systems from the ground up.
• Strong understanding of asset-backed financing, project finance, or equipment leasing a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cash flow and capital requirements in a scaling business.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial audiences.
• CPA, CFA, or MBA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy & Leadership

• Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, aligning financial strategy with Mitra EV’s growth and operational objectives.
• Develop and maintain a financial roadmap to ensure profitability and capital efficiency.
• Lead capital planning, including debt and equity financing strategies, working closely with investors and lenders.

2. Financial Controls & Compliance

• Implement and maintain robust internal controls across all finance functions, including accounting, procurement, and treasury.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, tax requirements, and financial reporting standards.
• Establish clear policies for financial approvals, expenditures, and budget accountability.

3. Cash Flow Monitoring & Forecasting

• Own short-term and long-term cash flow forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and growth initiatives.
• Monitor working capital, debt covenants, and large capital outlays, proactively identifying potential cash flow risks.
• Develop sensitivity analyses and scenario planning to guide leadership decisions.

4. Asset Portfolio Tracking

• Design and oversee systems to track the financial health and performance of deployed assets (e.g., EV fleets, charging infrastructure).
• Provide asset-level reporting on revenue generation, operating costs, maintenance reserves, and return on invested capital.
• Collaborate with operations to optimize asset utilization and profitability.

5. Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Produce timely, accurate, and insightful monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership, the board, and investors.
• Create KPI dashboards for both corporate performance and asset portfolio performance.
• Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes, integrating operational and financial inputs.

6. Investor & Stakeholder Communication

• Support CEO in preparing materials for board meetings, investor updates, and lender compliance reports.
• Articulate financial performance, risks, and opportunities in a clear and compelling way.

Success in the First 6 Months Will Include

• Full implementation of robust monthly close and cash forecasting processes.
• Board-ready reporting package that provides a clear view of both corporate and asset performance.
