Mitchell Technical College is seeking a Director for Business Development and Strategic Partnerships. This is a full-time position with a start date based on availability of the successful candidate.
The Director for Business Development and Strategic Partnerships is responsible for driving innovation in academic programming, workforce development, and external partnerships that support the college’s mission of preparing students for high-demand careers and advancing South Dakota’s economic vitality.
The Director will lead the development of career-focused programs and forge strategic partnerships with industry, government, and community organizations to meet evolving workforce demand, enhancing student success, institutional sustainability, and regional economic impact in alignment with Mitchell Technical College’s strategic plan.
This position requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of workforce trends and the ability to convert those insights into high-impact opportunities that accelerate institutional growth and strengthen Mitchell Technical College’s role in regional economic development.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate significant professional experience; a master’s degree is desirable
- 3-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in workforce development, business development, or comparable roles will be considered
- Successful history of identifying opportunities, executing new ventures, and fostering sustainable development across diverse industries
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience with business planning and ROI analysis
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Commitment to Mitchell Tech’s core values of learning, excellence, improvement, personnel, community, and advocacy.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act requires that the college’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report which includes crime statistics be made available to prospective employees and prospective students upon request. Mitchell Tech’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported Clery crimes that occurred on campus and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus safety and security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault prevention and response, timely warnings, emergency response, and other matters.
